A lifetime career in the travel industry has enabled Carmel to source interesting semi precious stones for her individual and original jewellery designs using amethyst, peridot, garnet, crystals, citrene, lapis lazuli, turquoise and pearls which have been collected on her travels throughout India, China, Jordan, Syria, Egypt and Turkey.
The souks of Damascus and Aleppo in Syria are favourite places and proved particularly rewarding during a recent trip through the Middle East, where Carmel acquired many interesting stones and silver beads which she has incorporated into her latest jewellery designs. She is also influenced by the ethnic styles of Asian and Middle Eastern countries.
